Meditation may sound horrible to some of you, LOL. Trust me, I never wanted to meditate in my whole entire life until the past year. I'm going to keep this sweet and to the point. Don't make yourself crazy over it and there is no wrong to meditating.
First you want to be very comfortable. If you do not prefer sitting cross-legged on the floor then sit upright in a chair or on a couch with your feet on the floor as this does help to ground you or you can cross your legs on the couch. The goal is for you to be comfortable for a. Of time. Make sure you're wearing comfortable clothing that is not constricting or annoying.
I would always suggest some guided meditation which you can find on YouTube for free. Or perhaps you have a app with some guided meditations. Whatever floats your boat. Guided meditation is a great way to start out as you really don't have to think and you have a voice telling you each thing to do and what is next. You may also prefer subliminal music in the background and allow your mind to be clear and receive what comes in.
If your mind happens to start wondering I say to myself in my mind "clear mind" and it brings me back from distracting thoughts such as what needs to be done for the day excetera. This is a very easy technique to get you back into the meditative state.
I would start out with perhaps 10 minutes a day working your way up to perhaps 30, 40 minutes or even 1 hour. Be patient with yourself and allow yourself to grow into the meditation. If you do not like what you were listening to then switch it up. You will find what resonates with you best and this will help you to be more relaxed and enjoy your meditation.
During meditation you may just allow and receive whatever information comes in or perhaps you would like to speak with your Spirit guides or past ancestors. You never know what you're going to receive as everybody is different in their spiritual growth and meditative forms. Some people may experience out-of-body or time travel during meditation. If you're lucky enough to experience this I'm sure this would be an absolute wonderful accomplishment to your spiritual growth.
Just know, you can do it! Start slow. There is no pressure. It is only you in the universe.
